What a rug appointment looks like
It starts on the floor with the rug. We look at the fiber, the backing, the dye stability, and how the rug has been used. A soap-free conditioner goes on the traffic path and any visible spots next. Then we work the solution through the pile with a light hand. What a dirty rug does to your floor, and to itself
People think of a rug as protecting the floor. It does, until it's full of grit. Then every step grinds that grit against the hardwood or the tile grout through the rug's backing, and the pad under the rug can hold dampness against the floor after a spill. We've seen the pale rectangle a dirty rug leaves on a wood floor. Cleaning the rug on a schedule keeps it a shield and not a sander.
